Restriction of Food and Drink Consumption in the MRT system

Q: Are mothers/care givers allowed to breast feed/feed their children in stations and trains?

The other day, Marcus did an amazing stunt. He climbed out of the stroller! I put him inside, belted him up, 5 point harness somemore hor and went to the kitchen to grab the termal flask before we head out. When i went back to the stroller, he was on the floor, playing with the wheels of the stroller. Think he used the baby cot, (stroller was parked beside the cot) and pulled himself up, out and down!

Really amazing! This further drum into me that he could have fell off the stroller and hurt himself real bad. Lucky he didn't! Else think Ken will nag at me non-stop. Even on the ikea high chair, with seat belt, he can worm his way out and stand. Really scary. A forum friend's baby girl fell from the ikea high chair and needed MRI to check for blood clog as she had a huge baluku.

Babies, wrong, it's TODDLERS are really active and fear no heights!

Marcus took his first steps today! He took 3 steps actually. Unsupported. 3! Yay...

I whipped out my camera wanting to video this moment. But he just reverted to crawling. Sign...

Soon he'll be walking all over. Time to shift the things UP again!

We did the hand imprint that Auntie Davilia gave you for your birthday. Wanted t make this for u when u were born, but somehow... we didn't manage to get in contact with the professionals who did this. So... it's a DIY version. Keke... A keepsake. Look at your tiny hand imprint...

Gosh... u have really grown.

Happy Birthday my Angel. So fast and you are 1 year old already!

The minute we knew of your existence, we were overjoyed. Seeing your tiny flickering heartbeat when u were just 6 weeks old and knowing that you are growing strong in my tummy brought tears of joy to my eyes. Then was 32 weeks of carrying u in my tummy and watching my diet as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Have to refrain from sweet stuff and watch my carb and sugar intake. Oh well… happy times really fly by fast and by week 38, gynae say u are way too big, so have to c-sec.

25 Sep 2008 at 1357hours, you were brought into this world. Your high pitched loud wail brought yet another tear to my eyes. I cannot believe it when I met you for the very first time. You have your daddy’s nose, your daddy’s eyes, basically, your daddy’s everything. You are a mini replica of the most important man in my life. And true enough, I think the minute I set my eyes on you, you took over and became the most important 4.15kg little man in my life. Every wriggle of your fingers and toes, every smile and cry that you make send butterflies to my tummy. I can just stare at you all day and do nothing. Carrying you and breastfeeding you for the first time was amazing. From that moment, I knew that I was gonna be your slave for life. Haha… now, I live and breathe only Marcus.

For the past 1 year with you in our lives, we have to make a few changes. Here are some examples:

1. Our idea of a movie date is now watching DVD at home. No more visting the cinema with popcorn and coke in hand as we snuggle up in the tiny chair. We now watch DVD in the room, on the queen size bed with u in between us. The “date” would end with mummy falling asleep within half hour of into the show.

2. My wardrobe now consists mainly of tube tops or low cut v-neck tops so that feeding you would be easy. My bra, are all ah-ma laced nursing type. Heels are only worn when I’m at work. Most weekends, I’m in flats. Easier to walk around carrying you. Totally unglam.

3. I spend every weekend with you and have become a much friendlier person. You now have many baby friends all thanks to SMH Oct08 mums forum. Haha… our weekends are usually packed with baby related activities.

4. Dining wise, I’ll pick the noisiest place so that your screams and cries don’t echo the place and we don’t get dagger stares from fellow diners. U even attempt to free yourself from the high chair. Argh… I wish you can keep still, especially during meal times. Hate it when I have to raise my voice or talk to you sternly in public places. But your cheeky smile will always make me forget my temper almost as soon as I lose it.

5. The kitchen now has this baby safe gate to keep you out and I’m nagging daddy to put up grills at the balcony. As you get more mobile, we are wrecking our brains at how to keep you safe. U are not walking yet, but can crawl really fast and will wriggle in and out of the tables and chair.

6. I no longer buy stuff for myself. I find that whenever I go shopping, I’ll gravitate to the baby/kids department. I can spend the whole afternoon just looking at strollers, baby clothes, toys, food and diapers and repeat the same thing over and over again without feeling bored.

It’s amazing that such a tiny baby like you have such powers over adults. Everyone is constantly praising you. They all want to carry, cuddle and pinch your chubby cheeks. When u smile, they smile, when u laugh, they laugh. Even when u cry, people still think you are cute! Oh well… guess there is a reason why babies are made cute. Coz of the amount of trouble and mess you create, babies better be cute so that we adults will be at their bid and call most willingly.

I wouldn’t say I’m a perfect mum. But I dare say I have given my 100% when it comes to you. There are some occasionally falls and bruises, but I believe you will grow up stronger. I enjoy every moment with you. You make me proud to announce to the world that you are my son. You are my precious. You are the apple of my eye. You are my angel. You are my sunshine. You are my naughty little Marcus. I love you!

Happy Birthday! You are no longer a baby. Welcome to toddlerhood!

Yay... Marcus can now clap his hands when we say "Clap hands".

Haha... silly of me... but i feel so happy to see him clapping his little hands together. He can even do *High 5*. But only to his daddy. He seldom *5 to me, Boo...

And he likes to pull out his socks, Dunnoe why. He has been wearing socks daily since he was born. Nowadays, he'll remove his socks to bite them! That day i made him wear those pants with toes cover, he pulled out the whole pants! Faint!

Happy 11 months!

So fast… u can crawl very well now and will chase us to the room, toilet, kitchen when we walk away. Baby proofing the house is a challenge.

Vital stats : 9.7kg (u lost weight) must be the cough!

Height : 71cm

U can pick yourself up to a standing position easily now. Your head now bearly touches the dining table. I pasted those corner protectors… but your itchy little hands and fingers keep peeling them off. U still cannot walk yet. Granny Chia say by the time ur head touches the table, u should be able to walk. She says it's an old wives tale. Let's see how. Actually, I wish u will grow up slower. Cannot imagine the day that u refuse my hugs and kisses.

Ur teeth seems to have stop sprouting out… which is a good thing. U are not nibbling me as often when I latch u on. However… milk supply is dropping. Oh well… maybe it's time to wean u. 11 months is good enough. Plus, there is sufficient frozen breast milk to last you for another 2 months. Keke… so… mummy has done pretty well in the department of feeding you.

For the past 4 weeks, we took u to see National Day Parade at the floating platform. U were amazing... not afraid of the loud noises and fireworks. In fact, u were happily wooing and erhing away.

Daddy and mummy now busy planning for 1 year old birthday BBQ. Junie Jie Jie offered to help get chalet but we missed the balloting. So… mad rush to try to look for a venue. Finally settled it at Costa Sands Pasir Ris. It's small… but I'm sure you will have loads of fun. Now… we have to get the cake and start getting the deco stuff and food to feed all the hungry wild animals that will come attend your "becoming a toddler" BBQ Jungle Party. Yes… the theme is JUNGLE! Wanted to dress u up as a Lion, aka King of the Jungle... but, u still botak leh. How how how... where is your hair hair? Fear not, mummy also botak when i was a baby/toddler. Now... i have soooo much hair, It'll grow out soon.

Happy 10 month my sunshine!
Have been so busy that I've neglected updating.

Teeth : 4 top, 2 bottom

It's getting more and more challenging to change your diaper now as you would flip and crawl away... this can get really messy especially after your poo! Argh... your poo is getting much much smellier as you are now eating almost everything. Many have suggested that i start using pull-ups, but... i insist on just using Huggies Dry Comfort. Pull-ups are really expensive. More than twice the price of normal diapers. I have better use for the money. Keke... I improvise by trying to wear your diaper when you are in a standing position. Hands on my shoulders, supporting yourself. Good way to train your leg muscles too. Haha...

We have took you to so many places and snapped so many pictures. On Daddy's day, we went Botanic Gardens, Keppel Island, Vivocity and ended up at Henderson Wave Bridge. See pictures here.

Then we also went to Batam on July 12th to cheer Aunt Hui, Ivan, Ferlyn and Daddy cable ski. You were like the big boys, topless in Batam cheering Daddy on. See pictures here.

We also visited Marina Barrage. It's really interesting. They build this thing to change the saltwater of Singapore River to freshwater. So... in 2 years time, we have a freshwater reservior in the middle of the city! See pictures here.

Wah... for a 10month old baby, you sure have done alot of things. Hope you enjoy the time spend with Daddy and Mummy. We sure enjoy every moment that we are spending with you!
